Kathmandu – Lhasa Tour

After breakfast, your cultural tour begins where our Guide will brief to you about whole Nepal including history, culture, people, religion, geography and living standard of People. You will visit popular world Heritage sites of Nepal such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) - Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site, Patan Durbar Square – Old King Palace with Beautiful Temples and Houses, Pashupatinath Temple - popular Hindu temple of South Asia and Boudhanath Stupa – biggest Buddhist stupa with monastery around. It is full day guided city tour where you will learn most important historical and cultural things of Nepal.

cToday, we fly to Lhasa from Kathmandu by crossing beautiful Himalayan peaks which is located in the border between Nepal and Tibet. We get our permit and all documents from Chinese Embassy of Nepal and fly to Capital city of Tibet to explore highest plateau on the earth. In Gonggar airport to Tibet, our Tibetan guide receive you and drive 60 km to Lhasa city. Lhasa is located on the north bank of Kyichu River having beautiful unique architecture. Due to high elevation, you may have different experience, so need rest to acclimatize in high altitude.

After breakfast, we start our sightseeing around Lhasa. Our English speaking Tibetan guide lead your tour to explore Potala Palace, which was the winter palace of spiritual leader Dalai Lamas from 1649 to 1959 and later it was developed as museum and it is listed in world heritage sites since 1994. It is the main highlight of the whole trip to Tibet to explore Potala Palace. In the afternoon, we will visit Jokhang Temple which was founded by 33rd great king of Tibet in 7th century and built in architecture of Indian, Tibetan and Nepalese style. Inside the temple, there is beautiful status of Shakyamuni Buddha. Around the temple is called Barkot Bazaar Street where people do Kora which is the religious circle from clockwise to walk around the territory. We will also visit old market nearby.

Today, our guide shows the most popular Buddhist Monastery of Tibet called Sera and Drepung Monastery. In the morning, we visit Drepung Monastery which is popular Gelug sect of monastery in Tibet build in 1416 by Jamyang Choge. This was the largest monastery in the world having 10,000 Monks but now the number of Monks is very few due to Cultural Revolution. There is monastery kitchen and Buddhist sculpture carving workshop nearby the Monastery that will be nice to observe. In the afternoon, we will visit Sera Monastery, a popular Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism, located north of Lhasa around 5km distance. This monastery was founded by 1419 by Sakya Yeshe who was the disciple of Tsongkhapa, a revered reformer of Tibetan Buddhism or founder of yellow Hat sect. After visiting Sera monastery, you are free in the hotel.

After exploring beautiful short trip of Lhasa, drive to Gonggar airport and fly to Kathmandu and drive to hotel. You are free for rest or shopping around Thamel which is the tourist hub of Kathmandu.
