Makalu Base Camp Trek

After breakfast, your cultural tour begins where our Guide will brief to you about whole Nepal including history, culture, people, religion, geography and living standard of People. You will visit popular world Heritage sites of Nepal such as Swyambhunath (Monkey Temple) - Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site, Patan Durbar Square – Old King Palace with Beautiful Temples and Houses, Pashupatinath Temple - popular Hindu temple of South Asia and Boudhanath Stupa – biggest Buddhist stupa with monastery around. It is full day guided city tour where you will learn most important historical and cultural things of Nepal. After you will return back to Hotel from sightseeing, meet with your Trekking Guide and brief about trekking program.

Early in the morning, we will fly from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar having scenic mountain flight of silver Himalayan peaks. It takes 40 minutes flight having exciting sceneries such as Rivers, Hills, forests, Villages and High Mountains. From Tumlingtar, we take Jeep drive 4-5 hour to Num village through beautiful town Khandbari, terrace cultivated land and rhododendron forest. Our trekking porters will be with us from Tumlingtar, only trekking guide will fly with you from Kathmandu.

Today, is our first day trekking in Makalu region, we trek to Seduwa village from Num. The trekking trail descends towards Lumbang village and cross the Barun River with terrace agriculture farm land. Then we ascend towards Primitive tea shop having warm temperature through barley and corn farms. We will enter towards Makalu Barun National Park where need to register our trekking permit here. Finally, after crossing a long rough climbing, we reach to Seduwa.

After breakfast, our trekking destination goes to Tashi Gaon from Seduwa having beautiful Himalayan landscape. First, we will walk to Kasuwa Khola River by crossing suspension bridge with decorated Mani walls and flags. Then, we enter to Hindrungma village with some terraced fields of Paddy and Vegetables. Again, we walk alongside the harvesting field and reach to Tashi Gaon. Tashi Gaon is a beautiful Sherpa settlement with hospitable and helpful cultural background.

Today, we will have challenging walk from Tashi Gaon to Khongma due to a steep long hike. We will make ascent of nearly 1400 meters in a one day that makes you hard and stimulating. By leaving human settlement, the trekking trail enters to the beautiful shade of Oak and rhododendron forest to a stream ridge. After finishing dense forest, we walk through summer pastures and grazing land and reach to the Khongma.

In the morning, we will enjoy the surrounding view of Himalayan landscape and begin our hiking towards Dobate from Khongma. The trekking trail today occupies ups and downs. We cross Thulo Pokhara (Big pond) and Sano Pokahra (Small Pond) and ascends to adventure summit of Shipton La Pass. We must be care during our hike to due to misleading the way but our guide will lead the way to Kalo Pokhari (Black pond). Then, we pass over the Keke La (4,170m) from where we can have amazing Himalayan beauty of Chamlang (7,321m) Peak 6 (6,524m), 7 peak (6,758) with more silver peaks. Finally we cross the Chorten of Tutu La and all the way down to Dobate valley.

The trekking trail goes to Yangle Kharka from Dobate today. First, we descend down to a wooden narrow valley passing through beautiful forest of Oak and rhododendron and walk along with Barun River valley. From here, we go steep up having numerous rock falls often, and after we finish the difficult part, the trail enters to pleasant and gradual hike. We can have beautiful Himalayan sights of Peak 7. We cross the wooden bridge and finally reach at Yangle Kharka.

First, we will start our trek by crossing the bridge over Barun River and the trekking trail passes through Yak Pastures, lush forests, and rock fields. From today, we will leave the vegetation land and enters to the rocky glacier land. We can have beautiful picture of lower Barun glacier and majestic view of Mt. Makalu. Then, we reach to Langmale Kharka which is also known as lower Makalu Base Camp.

Today is the main highlights of the whole trip to Makalu Base Camp which is situated with an elevation of 4,870 meters. First, the trekking trail goes to Sherson and we walk through rocky mountain path and reach to beautiful place of Makalu Base Camp. It offers attractive Mountain View such as Mt. Makalu and Mt. Everest with more silver Himalayan peaks.

We explore Makalu Base Camp and around today. Makalu Base Camp is full of barren land with large Barun glacier beyond. The beautiful sights such as Mt. Makalu, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Baruntse, Kali Himal and Chamlang, makes your trek life time unforgettable and memorable.

After exploring Makalu Base Camp, we descend down to Yangle Kharka passing through Sherson, Langmale Kharka, Merak, and beautiful barun valley and finally reach to Yangle Kharka. It is all the way down as we climbed before.

Today too, we hike down to Dobate from Yangle Kharka through Mumbuk. The trekking trail goes through rocky Himalayan topography, green forest and valley. We will sleep at local lodge of Dobate too night.

The trekking trail goes to Khongma from Dobate by following wooden trail of firs and rhododendrons. We make cross the Keke La, Tutu La and reach to Khongma.

We have long steel down hike to Tashi Gaon from Khongma. We will walk through beautiful hill area path and forests and we will reach to Tashi Gaon which is the beautiful Sherpa settlement. We will sleep in local lodge of Tashi Gaon today.

After breakfast, we will trek down to Num from Tashi Gaon. Most of the trail goes all the down to Num, hiking through village settlement, and terraced agriculture filed. We cross the beautiful place of Seduwa and walking via lush green forest and reach to Num Village.

We will drive to Tumlingtar from Num village by local Jeep for our next day flight to Kathmandu.

Early morning, we fly to Kathmandu from Tumlingtar having scenic Himalayan views. It takes 40 minutes flight to arrive in Kathmandu.

After completing, Annapurna Circuit Trekking, you are free in Kathmandu or you can have shopping as gift of Nepal to your family and friends. You must be very tired after trekking, can also have good body massage in Spa center. You will feel free and explore local markets and also enjoy your time in good restaurant in Thamel.
